UH requests public input on Mauna Kea land management. The University of Hawaii is asking for public input on proposed administrative rules for public and commercial activities on land its manages on Maunakea. The current draft rules would prohibit camping, as well as construction or activities involving more than 10 people without a permit. Hawaii News Now.

Hurricane Lane expected to take northwest turn; forecasters warn of heavy rain, flooding. Star-Advertiser.

At 5 a.m. Monday, Lane maintained intensity from earlier in the day, packing sustained winds of 125 mph with higher gusts. The Central Pacific Hurricane Center said Lane was centered about 615 miles southeast of Hilo — or 825 miles southeast of Honolulu — and moving west at 14 mph. Hawaii News Now.
