Hawaiian Airlines matching Southwest fares means lower prices for interisland flights. Hawaiian Airlines dropped airfares Monday to as low as $98 for round-trip flights between Oahu and Maui starting in April as competition from Southwest disrupts the interisland market — at least temporarily. Senate Passes Bill To Ban Certain Single-Use Plastics. A bill that prohibits the purchase, use, sale, or distribution of plastic beverage bottles, utensils, stirring sticks, polystyrene foam containers, and straws by state and county agencies has passed out of the Hawaii State Senate and is now in the House of Representatives. Proposal to install cameras that catch red light runners gaining steam. In an effort to make Hawaii roadways safer, the state Senate is supporting the installation of cameras at intersections to document and cite drivers who run red lights. A series of projects to curb albizia growth along county roadways are awaiting additional funding before they can be completed.
